Anne Koho, the founder of Trifecta Arts, has achieved an admirable feat by completing the first-ever classical ballet training program for underserved children at the Moriah School* in Guntur, India. The program was made possible thanks to the establishment of the Moriah Dance Project by Sophie Dale, and the support provided by Esther Dale and the school’s entire faculty and staff.
The ballet program has transformed the lives of 64 students who took part in the three-week program. They started as novices and learned an impressive set of basic ballet steps by the end of the program. The children’s dedication to learning and their ability to embrace the discipline of ballet was remarkable. The transformation from everyday worn-out school uniforms and bare feet to dancing in sleek ballet attire was inspiring, and it showed the potential of ballet training to uplift and inspire children.
The children’s increased focus, flexibility, and concentration during the classes demonstrated some of the benefits of studying ballet. The final assembly in the courtyard of the Moriah School was a moment of pride for each and every student. This program has given these children an opportunity to experience something they would not have had access to otherwise, and it is a testament to the power of art to transform lives. Thanks to the efforts of Anne Koho, Sophie Dale, Esther Dale, these children have been given a gift that they will cherish for a lifetime.
*Note: The Moriah School is a government-accredited private school with almost 200 students ranging from lower kindergarten to high school. The school is primarily funded by a US nonprofit and provides quality education to very low-income children, many of whom are the first in their families to receive an education, thus breaking the cycle of educational deprivation.
