In their world-premiere performance, the teenage dancers from theSanta Maria Orphanage who have been studying classical ballet with Anne Koho took the stage and delighted the audience at the annual fundraiser on October 24th. There were definitely some internal butterflies before they danced and some last-minute rehearsal time backstage. But like seasoned veterans, the young ladies all maintained their composure, smiles and energy throughout the performance.
Local businesses and resident expats from the United States, Canada and other countries join together each October to throw a fundraising dinner and silent auction with special performances by the children of the Santa Maria Orphanage. The event is coordinated by the board members of Friends of the Santa Maria Orphanage (aka FOSMO) with dozens of additional volunteers helping. Proceeds from the event are used to provide Christmas gifts for every child and support other projects at the facility. You can learn more about FOSMO at their website: https://www.fosmo.me
