After a pandemic-induced hiatus of several years, dance classes returned to The Moriah School in October 2023, reigniting the students’ enthusiasm. Trifecta Arts’ founder, Anne Koho, and Guest Teacher Talya Dozois from Minneapolis introduced Jazz Dance classes, adding a refreshing twist to the academic routine for 108 students in Guntur, India. The Moriah School, known for its quality education and support for underserved children, welcomed this special opportunity. Despite initial uncertainty, students quickly embraced the chance to explore a new form of expression. In just five days, they bonded with Miss Talya, captivated by her energy and passion.
“Traveling to India with Trifecta Arts was a life changing experience! Anne has provided an amazing opportunity to bring dance to the students of The Moriah School! This is something I would do over and over again to see the kids’ smiling faces and watch them have the joy of dance in their lives! Just a perfect example of how dance is a universal language and happiness! Trifecta Arts and Anne gave me the most rewarding time I will never forget! “ ~ Talya Dozois
Talya’s first experience as a volunteer with Trifecta Arts was nothing short of transformative. Stepping into the unfamiliar setting at The Moriah School, she felt a rush of excitement mixed with a hint of nervousness. However, any apprehension quickly dissipated as she witnessed the students’ eager faces and open hearts. Talya’s joyful approach to sharing dance transcended words, creating a universal language of movement and expression. As she guided the students through their first jazz dance class, Talya couldn’t help but be deeply moved by the cultural exchange unfolding before her. The genuine enthusiasm and infectious energy of the students affirmed her decision to volunteer, reminding her of the profound impact that the gift of dance can have on individuals regardless of background or circumstance.
Through this experience, Talya not only shared her passion for dance but also gained a newfound appreciation for the power of connection and cultural exchange. As the week ended, students bid farewell to their newest beloved teacher, grateful for the enriching experience and hoping to see her again soon.
