Melodía del Mar is a shining example of the power of community-driven initiatives and the transformative effect that music can have on people’s lives. Since its inception in 2014, the music school in Olón, Ecuador has continued to grow thanks to the dedication of its volunteers and the support of Musicians Without Borders, a German-based nonprofit. The fact that the volunteers cover their own expenses to travel from Germany and live with local families for up to a year is a testament to their commitment to the cause. Through their efforts, local children, teenagers, and adults are given the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument and express themselves creatively.
